Do the power steering and auto tranny use the same fluid, I mean are they linked together or are they independent systems? BTW the I have the M50 motor with the GM transmission.

Find the power steering fluid reservior and before doing anything, READ THE LABEL on the cap. THAT will tell you exactly what fluid to put in. For example, if the cap says "ATF Oil Only," then yes, the fluid should be standard Dextron III.

IF, however, it states "Pentosin 11s" or "Pentosin 7.1," then USE ONLY THAT FLUID!

Don't mix and match; Don't try to substitute; READ THE LABEL and use only that fluid!

Thanks for the info but, let me clarify my question is the fluid in the resevior the same stuff thats in my transmission, it says ATF so I know I put ATF but what I meant do the two mix with each other. Thanks.
