Got a flat a while ago, I had to wait a few days for the new centering rings to come in so I wasn't driving the car. I went out to put them on and the wheel that I had changed was loose. I know that I tightened it pretty well useing German torque but it took almost no effort to remove it, did I miss a step somewhere? or was it the lack of a centering ring?

Where they new rims? you always tighten new rims to spec, drive it, then loosen and retighten to spec. The rim can compress a bit and need re-torquing.

Every time you remove the wheel? Even on old rims? I've never done that, I'm a bit worried now.
