Hi!

Just got her 2 months ago 525I 1992, basically 19MPG which I think not really an average consumption. I'm not heavy on the pedal but consistently getting the same MPG. Living in California what brand or plugs should I use better or if there's any other aspect I should check to get better gas mileage...spark plug wires, injectors, valves settings. Cleaned the throttle body which would only affect idle smoothness.
Thank you for your input in advance.

i am getting 25 mpg in my 540 on hwy miles, about 20-21 when in the city. Not too shabby in comparisen given the power diference.
Are you running premium fuel?
have you had the plugs changed since you purchased?
Is there any pinging or excessive emissions or other unfriendly sounds while pedal is hard down?
What is your tyre pressure.

Just a few things to start with.

Well I do spirited driving about 80% of the time with an EAT chip, getting about 19-20MPG highway/city.

That means you would be getting around 21 miles per U.S. gallon h'way and 17 mpg city. ;)

I'm running on premium fuel, actually I haven't change the plugs on it. I was actually asking from a previous post(which I accidently post on the wrong section of the forum) what brand plugs I should use. A brother from the forum recommended me NGK and Bosch but not plattinum. I also intended to change the wires, she actually has 142,000 miles on it, brought it to a smog test a the technician says I need to change my catalytic converter in a couple months coz it's about to wear out, but there is not pinging or excessive emssions on it. She's sitting on 19 rims put 38psi on the tire gauge. are there any other areas I should check or change?

a 92 525 should have an M50 engine, and as such no spark plug wires since it has a coil on plug ignition system.

coil on plug + iridium plugs (i use denso) = VERY nice

Deliberately used U.S. Gal for the conversion. getting 10l/100km or better on hwy, 10.7 as average over last 12 months.
