I went into Wal Mart today and it looks like they stopped selling the 5 qt jugs of 15w50 mobil 1. Can any still find the non extended life stuff ?

advance or autozone may have quarts. I am currently using castrol syntec 5w50. It and castrol syntec 5w40 are available at autozone.

It's been discontinued. It's been replaced by the extended formula. I've been going at least 10k with filter replacement at 5k with the new stuff.

How do you like the syntec 5w50?

Seems to run smoothly and quietly. This is my first change with it and I have only about 3,000 miles on the oil. Plan to change at about 4,500 to 5,000 miles. May do a used oil analysis after next change.
My gas mileage did nt seem to change with heavier oil. I was running Mobil 1 0w40 which seem noisier. Even so, I may try castrol 5w40 next and then castrol 0w30 euro formula next winter.
