Reading Codes

I've tried to read the codes from my car but they won't display. I have followed the instructions and nothing. I need some hints or better instruction. Can someone help me out here???

Silly question, the check engine light does come on during key check?

Is there a floor mat under the gas pedal preventing full pedal travel?

make sure you "stomp" the pedal, it needs to be done rapidly, but not at light speed. I have failed to get codes when doing the pedal too fast.

yea, the check light does come on. the mat is clear of the pedal. but, i will try again at a slightly slower speed. i may just be stomping it too fast. thanks josh! i'll let ya know what i find out.

Okay, I tried slowing down and nothing. The check engine light doesn't go off, blink, or anything like that. What tricks are there for this??? It would help me solve this engine miss that I have!

your car might be exempt.

took me 4 tries to get it to work, some earlier cars are exempt but I think they were with the birthday in '89
