Is there any air conditioning system which is capable of working with engine off in a BMW?

I thought the Euro's had the two HVAC timers as a option on the obc? I know it was an option here in AUS.
Do a search.

the HVAC timer is just for the air circulation fans, the compressor wont run without the engine spinning.

some euro bmws have a heater only(small gas burner) so you can warm up the car before you get in but not the a/c.
I spose a big battery bank and timer and electric motor could operate the a/c via the timer...i bet it wont be long before most of the accessories are driven by electric motors any way so with 48 v batteries its alll easy.

Why haven't they implemented an electric motor to drive the compressor so far? At least on models like 750, some of them (as far as I know) have 2 batteries.

the power requiered to run a blower aux fan and compressor would squash a battery on no time, 20-25 odd amps X 2 for blower/fan 3-5 amps for the compressor and maybe 30 or more for a motor to drive the compressor, you'd have decent ac for 15 minutes shitty ac for 10-20 and a almost useless battery after that
