As we all do I was cruising one of my favorite porn sites, the 5 series up for auction on eBay. Anywho, came across this very clean looking 89 535, with almost absurdly low miles (82k). What puzzles me is the condition of the driver's seat, which looks really beat up for that mileage... For that matter the rear seat does too. (pics 14-19) Anybody sitting on a free carfax who can check the mileage?

For comparison, check out this 93 with 240k mi...

Probably. Some of the front end pieces don't line up right (re: left side bumper, etc). The model number is wayyyy off whack. This baby has probably been repainted.

He wants almost 7000 for it... that ain't cheap at all. It hasn't hit the reserve, and chances are its set at the buy-it now price.

The upside down exhaust tip, the ghetto stereo, the dry cracked seats, and the cow dung on the engine kind of make me wonder. My car had 80K in the 1994 vintage, but that came with paperwork for the engine alusil to current replacement. Unless homer swapped out the engine, I don't see how 80K garage kept would be anything other than a lucid dream.

arizona car in case you didn't notice. If it sat outside much at all then the leather is all cracked up looking like that. I can show you pics of e39 and newer that look much worse than that here. The paint is too good though and is probably a repaint since the same sun that kills the leather doesn't do the paint any good. Rubber weatherstripping also goes away here. But there's no rust or corrosion. My 89 has 129k miles and the interior is in much better shape but it was garaged most of its life, but i work on a number of 90 and newer that have lower miles than mine but the interior is much worse.

For a car that actually looks for real and the mileage and history checks out see Ebay # 130009911303. High asking price but this '89 535i is about as clean as it can get for an 82k 17 year old car!

the car might be original BUT, i bet it was crashed, or at least bumped, because the front end, the fender, hood, bumper and the rest arent aligned 100%.
the paintjob might be original but only if it was garaged and freshly polished. but i doubt it.
and the DTM tips flipped....what a dumbass. now that's a shame.
and yeah, the wheels are ugly.
