My car makes a whirring, can-of-marbles type of noise from the IP cluster area at speed. The sound increases its frequency as the tach winds up. I don't hear this noise from outside or under the hood.
If the tach were mechanically powered, I'd automatically guess that the cable going to the tach was somehow worn or in need of lubrication. Something tells me, though, that the tach in my car is fully electric. Are there any other possibilities? I thought about the aux fan, but I get the noise with the A/C on or off. (Then again, it's been so hot around here that the aux fan might just be on all the time right now.)
