Does anyone have a pic of the glove box torch that came with our cars? Are they still available? I've got an E46 one (long story) but it wont fit into the charging recepticle.

About 20 $, you need the white one, not the black. The white was also in E30, E32, E28 etc.
But if you want the REAL stuff, I have my one tuned :D

Last summer I was in Germany and met in Munich airport the electronic guru of the E32 7 series forum to discuss this. My friend Reinhard developed this board in his own company, and the goldpacks are recharged within 2 minutes, and the LED's shine very strong. The 3 ones shown were the prototypes with different LED arrangement.
He meanwhile sold more than 50 tuned ones in Germany. Usual way is to send him an old one with 20 EURO in the envelope and return envelope with stamp, and he inserts the new design, some of the inside plastic has to be removed to fit.
Yes, I know what you wanted to say
Shogun, you are crazy .......:D

Bought a torch from eBay some time last week from a seller in the US, still waiting for it to come to my door.
It cost me US$16.99 I think, shipping extra.

I got one for free from an e28 that was about to be junked. I also have the black one from an e46. They are not interchangeable because one has the female connectors and the other, male.

But it does light up in a flash! Unlike a torch, that you have to ignite with some kind of match or something.

I disassembled my glove box "torch" to try to fix it myself, but I now realize that I don't have the tools, supplies, skills, patience, or time to complete the job. I'm thinking that stuffing all the pieces-parts in an envelope and sending them to Reinhard sounds like a good way out right now! (I know I could just get a new torch, but the tuned ones are SO cool, and for just a little extra on postage... it would be totally worth it!) If you have an address, I'd send it out first thing next week!

Are you still in the Army in Germany?
Then no problem. Just put everything in an envelope and add a return envelope with enough stamps and 20 EURO in cash.
That is it. I think he has now made about 50 of them. He will fit and adjust it.
He also repairs all other electronic parts for the 7-forum members such as swords, clusters, any kind of module etc.
He is so popular among the 7-forum members, that I initiated an action that many people sent to him parts such a complete wiring loom for a M70 engine, M30 engine, heater control, all modules for the engine, LKM, CCM and you name it. So he building up a complete car electrics to be able to test each module in his workshop after repair. Before he always had to install the units on his 750 or his sons 735.
He is really a great expert, electronic engineer.
Some pics from his workshop and his trunk's one

WOW... this guy looks serious! I love the "mobile workshop" in his trunk! And the multiple ashtrays (aschenbechern?) on his work bench, FULL of old butts, definately give it that Deutsch look! :D

The new version is really something, very short recharging time, much brighter that this old piece.
New Owner 95 E34 will send his old one to Germany to get it back with the modifications.
For the German 7-Forum members he made already >50 pieces of modified ones. But he needs an old one from you if you want to have the mods, the old battery can be empty, but the rest should be o.k., he has to carve out some of the inner material to make it fit and look from the outside the same like OEM.
