Heh, he called it a '96 at the bottom of the description. ;)

Buy it and part it out, I'll take the stress bar.

5 days left on the auction. I bet it is no deal at the end of 5 days.

That is a Racing Dynamics strut brace. Sort of wierd that it is on that car, huh?

Part my car out and keep that, lol.

I know what they do, but do upper strut braces give you that much more rigidity?

I like the braces that go from the strut to the center of the bulkhead.

Wow ! I can't believe these cars as so expensive for you guys over there. An '89 E34 would probably make about 300 quid (UK Pounds) over here if its any good. Unbelievable ! All E34 enthusiasts should move to the UK - lol.

Glasses guide (motor trades bible for guide prices) Had my old car at £400 but that was an 90 model as it didn't go back as far as ,89! Hence why I scraped it and got me a 525 SEiA. Took what i needed out of her and with a tear waved good bye. Problem in UK is that fuel is expensive nearly £1.00 per litre here ($2.00 nearly a litre) and the car is too old to appeal to young drivers (hot hatches and Subaru Impreza's are the thing here) and old drivers can afford newer BMW's........ More for us then , ay?!:D

Yeah fuel price is a killer, I guess if you were to add US buying price to the fuel price over a year, its probably cheaper than UK - damn !

I'll have to change my sig now, as I just sold my 530i 1994 with 124000 miles on for £1200. Admittedly very cheap but I wonder what it would have been worth in the USA - 5000 bucks maybe ? Hmmmm.

Oh crap, you're not filling me with confidence about the resale value of mine... 165k miles on a 1993 540i?

Guess I just have to keep it and turn it into a slightly unsuitable trackday weapon.

540i's go for more ! Why not try it on Ebay, a nice one always makes fair doe on there, esp if they've got M-Tech suspension and stuff, as you can then 'position' the 540 as a poor man's M5 - same torque as a 3.8 M5 at 295ft/lbs (400Nm) and only point one of a second slower than the 3.6 etc etc. On the other hand, the 530i has no real 'positioning', other than the fact its a V8, but most ppl here think the old 530 on the straight-6 is the better engine so no 'premium features' really on the 93-95 530i's, not so for your 540i (and mine !) :-)

Cheers.

I was in the UK in June and all I saw was like you said hatches. It was a trip, steering on RH. Driving on left side. Motor way, traffic signals. The roundabouts are great though! Im surprised that E34s are cheaper there. To my experience that car is the cheapest thing in UK compared to everything else in the States.
I went to Aurua off of picadilly down in London and to get in the club was 20GBP and a drink was 10GBP. So I spent close to $60 just to get started. :)

I loved UK though, defintely want to go back.

About 1000 quid last time I checked (1800 bucks ?). Then you got taxes maybe and any emissions conversions, driving side conversions (unless bought from Germany/non-Uk Europe - but then you gotta speak the lingo maybe). All in all, probably not a viable proposition. Perhaps German 'regulations' and cars might be closer to US spec though, as no idea what their specs are. You got funny bumper regs there too I think, so thats new bumpers. A non-starter me thinks.

Bi-turbo E34s ?? or do you mean Bi-Turbos as in the old saloon type Maserati that no one ever wanted when they were new ? Plenty of those, not seen many if any turbo'd E34s in UK. I think there was a turbo E34 in Germany but dont think it made it here. I love the idea of a turbo'd M5, I'm sure its do-able, or maybe a super'd - that'd be easier. I think the U.S is more switched on to these sorts of conversions than UK.

Ahh yes, I forgot about the bumper, emissions requirements. I have seen one other car out here RHD, forgot what kind. But yeah that must be expensive to ship a car over here. Maybe in the end its more expensive.

Probably the Alpina B10 Bi-turbo. But the Maser too maybe, you can never have too many of those ;)

+1 on the Alpina and +1 on the cost to Federalize...you need about $15K in extra cash to set a Euro car up for US road worthiness...the M5 market is crazy over here compared to Europe, so you can have a pretty damned nice car for $25-$30K if you choose to import a Euro car. A local guy here in Atlanta used to import them and I'm sure still could if someone wanted one...there is supposed to be a Euro M5 Touring coming up for sale soon FYI...

I've found cool euro parts from these guys, and they sell whole cars as well, some of which are federalized...
