I have a 1990 535i that one head light does not work. New bulb, good fuse, seems to be a module under the fuses. Is there any other checks I can do to determine the problem?

If all fuses/relays are fine then the next thing to check would be your LKM

I'm going to take the road less traveled and say check the headlight socket itself. The contacts could break or crap out not completing the circuit. Check this after you've exhausted all other possibilities. You can get the common connector/socket at most auto part places pretty cheap and just crimp or soldier/heat shrink the connections.

I second that. Exhaust all the obvious ones before checking the LKM
Or take a voltmeter to the connector at the headlamp. That will dispel any doubts about that.

the failure of the lkm soldered connections is very very very common on these cars

Yes,

They are not for each single headlight, but there are separate fuses in the fuse box for the low beams.
from left to right:
low beams
hight beams
front fog lights
rear fog light (if your car has one)
