I was watching PINKs last night, and asked myself my hasnt an e34 been there? Im sick and tired of watching the same Chevy Novas race over and over, and ocassional riced Civics. So im tihnking that this forum should build a car and put it on PINKS and get some respect, plus it will be nice when we take down a 350 CHevy. Am i crazy, anyone have the same idea

I don't like that show for a couple of reasons:
1) USE A TREE!!! - Cut out all that whinning, "He left early", "No I didn't..." BS.
2) Cut out all the haggling about head-starts, bottle, no bottle, etc. Either you have the fastest car heads-up or you don't, take your toys and your whinning and go home if you don't want to race.
3) Why didn't they have a show like Pinks back when I was young and stupid and was street racing in this?

No, sold it in 1974 when the Arab oil embargo hit the U.S. Couldn't stand the thought of .50+ per gallon gas with a car that got less than 10 m.p.g. (Doesn't that sound crazy).
That car was basically one of a kind. Dad special ordered it from the local dealer:
440 6-pack (he wanted the hemi, but at the time it was only avaliable in a 4-speed)
"slap stick" automatic transmission
4:11 Dana rear end
Black leather interior
All the bells and whistles, except air conditioning because there was no room under the hood for air.
It was lots of fun to drive. Can't imagine what he and mom were thinking turning a 16 year-old loose in it.

I can still remember my ex-father-in-law back in '75 declare, "It'll be a cold day in Hell when I pay $1 for gas."
