folks, has anyone here replace the standard engine driven fan by a electric fan?
how's the performance in start/stop traffic like in a jam - rarely past the 1/2 mark on the temp gauge?
what about engine power gain?
what parts did you use for the electric fan, relay & temp switch and where did you order them?

I would rather stay with a visco clutch, which last many. many years and is very reliable.
Electric fans can also fail

shogun, i understand the reliability of the visco fan. however with (ever increasing) traffic jam in the hot tropics (it seems hotter every year), i noticed the needle will crept up beyond 1/2 mark and hold steady there - that's hotter than ideal and perhaps unnecessary on the components.
visco fan is not running at full speed when the car is idling whereas electric fan is only dependent on temperature set and will run on full speed in start/stop traffic situation.
i also understand newer bmw has done away with visco clutch.
so i wonder if any of the forummers here has experience to share on this mod particularly those in hot climates.
many thanks ahead
