FK Coilovers. Not bad. "Slamming" an e34 isn't looked upon well in these forums :) Now if by "slammed' you mean 1.3" or so drop, we can be of some help.

You should SEARCH, and perhaps get together with this fellow: http://www.bimmer.info/forum/showthread.php?t=25071

Did someone say SLAMMED? Definitely go with the BavAuto/Bilstein combo :p Guaranteed to make you like it the way it is.

Good memory.

Posted a long while back, and to the layman, good 'enough' PS skills to fool most.

i was lucky enough to receive my car with a drop on it already, if anything it subtracted from the value of the car for the seller, but helped me out a bunch! i think i have a dinan 1.3" drop. not sure. i can for sure tell it's been lowered. rides GREAT! better than most stock height cars

call up ground control. They don't make the e34 kit too much anymore but you might get lucky. Actually call mpact, can't remeber the website but they are a sponsor on bimmerforums. The coilovers are about $400 then you need some koni's and your set. Mines lower than most i think on ground controls. Probably a tadd too low for the shitty roads around here but soo far no damage.

or just now that i did a lil research, what do you guys think of this?

you're going to be spending some money for either of those setups.. I would love a ground control setup, but it requires a good bit of money for a nicely set up coilover suspension.

3 in drop? Have you seen the rear fender arches on an e34? Good luck... might want to pick up some 14x8 daytons while you're at it

Weazman, don't let others discourage you. If you have the resources to do the job right ($$$$$) the go for the look you want. Deal with the pros and cons. And if anyone gives you crap for doing this to your car. Tell them to Pound sand.

I think the reason no one is willing to post pictures for you is that the drop you are considering is so much more extreme than any of us have. The way you can look at some cars with modded suspension is to go through the pictures in last years virtual car show. There you will see a variety of suspension set ups and what they are will be found in the text. I think if you really want to see them you are going to have to do the work of looking.

(Jon K--what is going on with the pictures in your old posts? About half the pictures in your virtual car show have the big red x. Last week I was searching for that thread with all the pics of the megasquirt build and its pics are all blown. You have a responsibility to your following to maintain those you know.)

Eibach Sports kit from bavauto.com and Sachs shocks/struts from the same... or check bmaparts.com for a price comparison.

Lowering in general pisses off mechanics. The balance and camber changes on the wheels, and makes them sad. I just pissed one off yesterday because I replaced my OE springs with eibach. I would have gotten OE springs but honestly, those bastards cost 2X more... anyhow. Eibach and Sachs. Like lotion and motion.

Oh, and in regards to a suspension upgrade. The OE springs are the upgrade. Lowering them is a suspension downgrade. Less cushion defeats the purpose- unless you are using Bose magnetic $20,000 strut sets. I don't have pictures of mine onhand, but there isn't much difference really. Just an inch lower.

My E34 is only about 30mm lower than standard, and it bottoms out on the bump-stops all the time!! Even lumps in the road or potholes it thumps damn hard!! It has 5000km old Bilsteins in it too, so its not an issue with worn-out shocks.

Don't go any lower than about 40mm at the MOST, any more than about 30mm it'll need a camber-correction kit in the back suspension too!!

if i want springs and shocks kit,

or should i just get the springs?

Qube
08-31-2006, 10:15 PM
Springs will cost you about $200-250 bucks. Kit will run you about $650-700. If you can, get the kit so you can install all at the same time. Else, get the springs and hope for the best from your stock struts.

Hey Nick. Did you cut your bumpstops down and what springs are you using?
Bilsteins have internal stops don't they?
