What I want to do is service/clean my AFM on the 535. After changing my O2 sensor I am still using lots of fuel (22L/100km).

I have read the threads on this site heaps of times and still have some unanswered questions about the AFM and making sure it works properly. I have read here to use brake cleaning fluid but elsewhere I have read that brake cleaning fluid is too strong (was refering to wire setup [MAF?] not AFM but still) so I have found a special can of stuff designed for these type of sensors.

I gather the AFM is not actually designed to be serviced but can be pulled apart to clean or possibly sprayed. I want to spray it because I dont want to damage anything and it would be easier. So after looking over the engine I cant see the AFM according to some other pictures I have seen. Can someone point it out to me. Also some instructions on cleaining would be very helpful. Please correct what I am about to do.

I have circled the part in red I think is the AFM.

1. Loosen grub screw on both sides of metal unit to seperate rubber pipes
2. look inside for afm and either spray lots everywhere or try to actually service it properly if accessable.

Thanks.
