poor mans shadowline

hi all

gonna source some shadowline tape, as soon as i can find a place local in the uk to get some

in the meantime thought i'd do a trial run with insulation tape - please don't laugh, i'm gonna leave it on and see how long it lasts!?

Thats exactly what I've done on mine -looks tons better matey, even if it is onnly tape :D
Only trouble i've found is the tape shrinks slightly, with the heat of the sun etc..

Exactly - Plan on painting mine eventually - just haven't got around to removing them all yet..
Definately gonna be doing it to my new car too - just bought a royalblau 535i to add to the collection :D

From my experience - not really... any stickiness can be easily remoevd with a baby-wipe or when you wash the car..

If you use GOOD quality tape (eg 3M), then it will last until something nicks it. On the other hand, if you use crappy tape like from a discount (dollar?) store, it will most likely leave a gooey mess after baking in the sun for a while.

some decent stuff next time

I cleaned out Canadian Tire the last time I saw this stuff. I've used it on mine and it worked just fine. I believe others on the board have used it as well. I probably have two rolls to send you if you wish (enough to cover exterior chrome and interior door sills).

over on your side of that stupid puddle, there have been a decent amount of m5's going down for the count, and being parted out. snag some OEM shadowline if you can. lurk on the m5 boards and check fleabay, and definitely german fleabay.

I picked up a roll of "Shadowline" tape from ebay, ran be about $15 I think. Enough to cover outside of car.... twice. I've had it on for about a year now, looks great, just barely starting to shrink. I am going to take off and paint sometime next week or the week after.

try calling your local signwriter they use a tape on shop windows-cars etc ! it comes in any width or length much better than elec tape and cheaper too much better for those curved rear window bits

Not a problem I experience in Cheshire. Finding tape that is sufficiently water proof is the bigger problem :)
