Factory Alarm question.

I just recently purchased my first E34. A 1995 540i, no complaints so far. I really like this car! But I had a question about the factory alarm that comes with this car. After I arm the alarm is goes off sometimes for no reason. I was wondering if this has ever happened to any of you? Is it set too sensitive? Can I turn it down myself or do I need to take it to the dealer? Or what sort of problem could it be?

A week ago I wouldn't have had an answer for you.. but today I do..

I parked my car the other day, locked it, and walked away and the alarm went off for no reason.. then I did it again. Turned out that my back door wasn't closed fully.. I opened it and closed it properly. Problem solved.

If your doors are all properly closed, I'd start by looking at all of the pins that detect if the door is open or closed and go from there.. It appears one of those pins/sensors isn't operating correctly.. Could be something as simple as a bad wire.
