I'm going to try and fit my new M-Tech I steering wheel on my '90 535. Is there anything I should know when removing the airbag steering wheel? I dont want to set off any fault codes, etc. When I replace it with the non-airbag steering wheel, will there be any warning lights that I will have to deal with? if so, what's the easiest way to turn them off? I'm not sure if I really want to keep the M-Tech or not, so if anyone is interested, it's in perfect condition. Just PM me.
You will get an SRS light. Disconnecting the SRS module ought to turn off the light.

I read that the module is under the seat. what should I be looking for?

that will not turn off the light, you need to ground the wire that goes from the srs module to the check control module, the ccm is what sets the light

some cars have a back up srs bulb hard wired to the cluster's mother board, e36s are like that i can't remember if the e34s have one too

another question....if i decided to switch back to the airbag wheel, will I have to get the SRS system reset to return the light to normal functioning? will the airbag work properly if I leave the warning light deactivated via the method described above? I'm so torn....good looking wheel vs airbag safety.

it will need to be reset and whatever you do to kill the light will need to be undone, me id unplug the srs box and ground the ccm wire (wire color can be found on a wiring diagram) but removing the bulb gets it done if the car doesn't have the 2nd hard wired bulb
