When I bought the M5 a couple months ago,my friend said they only brought in like 500 M`s. Now ,I`ve been reading what a hot ,rare auto it is..Exactly how many came in in 91?He told me only black was a real M,but I`ve seen silver?:) He said the M 5 was the ultimate BMW,E34 M5:D
what do you guys think?

That's a very good link above.

What your friend was probably thinking about was the e28 M5. They only imported black ones but they had white and silver in Europe.

As for the e34 they made lots of colors, black, white, blue, green, another blue, another blue, silver, and another silver. You do have a mildly rare car that's a blast to drive.

Greg and his M5 were royalty when they arrived at bimmerfest. :) He almost never posts here. Just a joke with someone I sort of know.

Greg--you should have come to the meet in San Diego on Sunday. There was another e34 M5 upstaging you.
