If you haven't been on the site, go browse around ;)Nice, very good info at that URL on a turbo M S38 motor for that member recently (who wanted to charge his M5) that was replying to one of Jon Ks putrid threads (about how well his measly little pissant 2.5L motor is going now).

Also, I like the specs that BMW provide;

Peak engine speed: 7250rpm
Maximum sustained speed: 7000rpm

There was a spate of threads about maximum engine speeds (re the humble M30) recently, so that would help them to understand that 6500 is really as high as it should go, and that even sustaining 6500 might not be such a good idea...

The dyno readouts that a Dinan turbo S38/3.9 achieves were a nice gander: 468 HP at 12.5PSI: Now that is one motor I would like to build...

What I'd really like to know is, would one of those nice M5 intake setups fit on an M30 head or is it specific to an S38/M88 motor. Come to think of it, what is the difference between an S38/M88 block and an M30 one? Would the head fit? Would the differnce possibly mainly be pistons & rods (and so therefore, if an S38 head could bolt on an M30, what might the compression end up as? Hmmm... not that I can afford to, but was just thinking out loud :P

(or maybe it does have a knock sensor, don't think so...). With a decent ECU so much more can be acheived. Yea, those swedes build car engines like they build (jet) plane engines. You shoudl go there and meet them one day- not a bad place for a holiday from the US, Jon. Take ya snow board for sure, but also go for serious drifting run on one of their ice bowls, the vid I saw some time back of a 535 doing that was some of the harshest amateur driving I've seen since that remote-controlled, BMW in a quarry TopGear episode... :D

No jab. You just displayed how one can find a multitude of information out there. This information has been out for at least 4 years on the internet, so not something new. The internet is great and so are the BMW people who share the information for others to use. It is a good idea to get it into the archives now just in case people search. Let me add words so it pops up for those searching.
