90 E34 Radio Question

I have searched the radio posts and cant seem to find the answer. My head unit is the old style plug not the pin connector. How do you hook up the bmw speakers with just the positive? How does the negative work on these units? Any help would be awsome.

Connect only the positives to the radio wiring, and connect the negatives together from the new radio. A diy writeup can be found at www.bmwe34.net
