I personally find this thread more annoying than the scammer ones.

At least with the scammer ones I know its a scam by the title. I feel I was duped into this thread, thinking that Evan had an opinion -- but I was just faced with one word -- "Discuss".

This is pretty annoying, because I come in here to see what other people think. I feel that if you think you should start a thread, you should at least include your opinion in the first post.

Having said that, my opinion is that they are easy to ignore -- I don't visit any other sub-forum in here (like the Z3 or 3 series ones), and the way I navigate this forum is that I Apple-click (open in new tab) only the threads that I think I might find interesting -- just like this one, but I was duped!

Its not that the posters are explicitly allowed to post here. Its that they post here just as anyone else does. There is no approval process to be a member here. It is administered by only a couple people (maybe only one - Ed?) It is paid for with very limited advertisements. The resources to monitor every poster and post as they are created just aren't available.

If you want tight moderation (and a restriction of opinion) go post at roadfly.

Really, do the posts bother you that much? Or do you just need a soapbox in your life to make yourself heard?

mate i hate spam and telemarketers.
these posts do bother me to a small degree. i also feel that they have increased dramatically over the last month.
so the trend to see more and more in the future. sorry if i think that this will lead this board to be a place i don't want to be, and since it is the privaledge of members to question why we are letting this happen then i do.

So now you can come to the real point of what you were about to say. is that if i don't like ******** scams i can go f-off.
to which i will say if the members of the board can't be bothered trying to prevent this from becoming spam city. then I will be glad too

Once they are blocked, they enter with another I.D. and post again

i post on another forum too and we were inundated with them.Have now got to register to post .The response to that has been we have ten or twenty new "spammer" members every time i look at the members list..they dont sem to post.I delete them or sometimes i go into their profiles and change their passwords.More satisfying somehow.Its a much smaller and therefore less active forum than this one tho.

I've implemented 100 php and vb message boards for clients over the past three years.

I currently administer three of them for the fed government. I give limited administrative power to certian members and they keep the board free of trash. It's cost-effective and efficient and makes for a much more pleasant experience.

I agree this is the best solution. If Ed were to give moderation capabilities to a few members that I know check the board very frequently to handle deletion of these posts/accounts, it would curb the abuse.

I definitly don't believe that those that don't like ******** scams should go f-off. They bother me as well. But I'm not going to let that deprive me of the excellent resource and community we have going here. I would hardly call this "spam city." I think we just have had a few posters do more than usual and the increase is merely temporary.
