The LCD module in my instrument cluster hasnt worked since last Sept. Today I installed a new cluster I got from eBay for $66 including shipping. I decided to get a red Marks-A-Lot and paint the needles red. It is nice to be able to see what gear I am in and how many miles on the car. Tonight I will check out the red needles.

$66 is cheap....
Mine is usually garbled on cold mornings, and then becomes fine after about 5 minutes.
But it's been doing this for 8 years, since it was in CT, so I try not to worry.
What were the symptoms of your failure?

so, if the bottom line of my lcd doesn't work until warmed up (5 mins) when the temperature is below 60F, does that mean the caps are going? and by bottom line, i mean the bottom pixels, so that the E in the tranny indicator looks like F.

It stopped displaying anything at all one day. No service lights, odometer, trip meter, or shift indicator.

Ryan,
Mine's been doing that for years. As in about 8 years and 3 owners. The dealer didn't do anything when it was under warranty.
I think the caps make the needles go crazy...
