Radio on accepting correct code?

'89 525 original radio not accepting correct factory code. Happened after fusible link failure and has not come back. Other functions OK.

I believe you are allowed a certain number of attempts before you get locked out. Leaving the radio on for one hour will unlock the radio and allow you to enter the code. The radio must be powered on uninterrupted for an hour. In other words, turning it on for 20 minutes at time won't help.
