I had mine tanked overnight at the machine shop. I wanted to make 100% sure it was a) clean and b) didn't have any loose thingys to go down my intake when I bolted it back on.

I have the intake manifold off the car, and want to clean the carbonized crud that's built up on the inside. My machinist did a nice job bead blasting the head, which is now beautiful, so I asked about doing the intake manifold. He says the convoluted shape means blasting only gets to the areas by the holes, leaving most of the stuff still in there.

He suggested kerosine and vigour with a bottle brush.

I'm hoping somebody here has an easier and quicker way. If Draino would not harm the aluminum, I'd try it.

Other ideas?

I mixed up different forms/strengths of degreaser and did the bottle brush method. Followed up by lots of rinsing. I also soaked it in a 5 gallon bucket of b12 chemtool that I have. Either way it was a big pain to get it really clean.

I also gasket-matched the ports to the head, which might or might not have helped....the whole thing ran SO much better after the new HG, I wasn't sure if it was the HG, the manifold, the new injectors, or what.
