Though the range is too short. And also, where do you supposed to fill in the hydrogen tank?

Here is the full press release from BMW, alot more info than that article.

Currently, the only filling stations seem to be in Berlin and Munich.

It has much less power than a normal 760, and shorter range, but it has almost zero emissions.
Its an interesting twist on the hydrogen as an alternative fuel idea, still needs alot of development though.

hydrogen is not an energy source.. it's an energy carrier. pretty much useless as an alternative source of energy unless it's fueled by something non-oil based

Yes, but it can be maufactued and stored easier than electricity, at say a tidal station power generating plant.

Gov. Sachartzenager in California has commited to making hydrogen available in all major town/cities in CA in the next 2 years. Plus I read that these things can burn conventional fuel in a pinch.

"BMW first showed off the potential of its 6.0 liter V12 hydrogen combustion engine in 2004 with its H2R (http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm/NewsID/2040920.001/country/gcf/bmw/bmw-sets-9-records-with-hydrogen-combustion-engine). That vehicle was able to reach 0-60 in just 6 seconds and had a top speed of 186MPH. The German automaker is expected to put the BMW Hydrogen 7 into production in April of 2007"
I am certain I saw a factory (but experimental) Hydrogen powered 7 series back when they were making e32s. It had something sticking out the back.

The interesting thing is the last paragraph, this must be pretty cool if BMW is headed for production with this powerplant already. BMW have a few green tricks stashed away me thinks, they've been working on all this stuff for quite some time.

Can't wait to see the first mods that will work on our cars! [literally] :( Nick
