OBC: speed and fuel consumption wires

Hey folks,

I while ago I've bought an OCB from someone from this forum. As I expected, it gave an PPPP error... I've soldered an codingplug in it, and now it works (hour/date/code/...), except the OBC doesn't know my speed or fuel status...

I mailed with Hektor Winz, the guy from gunar525.de where there is the manual for soldering the plug. He said i'm probbaly missing the speed pulse and fuel pulse cables...

I've figuered out that speed pulse is pin number 7 at the obc, a black/white cable... that should come from the instrument cluster... If I remove the instrument cluster, will I just find 1 wite/black cable? And can i solder a wire on it, an lead it to the wire that goes to pin 7 at the obc?

Where can I find the fuel pulse? I guess this is pin 26 and 12?

Ok, I've connected pin 7 of the OBC to pin 12 on the instrument cluster... This is pin 12 from the green connecter. This is a black/white cable.
But still no mph readout... Only range says 67km now, and it jumped a few times to another value while driving...

Any hints?

Did you connect the speed signal at X429?

No, directly at number 12 at the plug that goes into the instrument cluster... It is a 26pins plug with a blue cap.
Don't really know what X number it is...

I also used that picture you're showing. Since it states it goes to number 12 at the instrument cluster, and in my car it also is a black/white cable, I tought this was right...

Ok, lets say you have the speed input right, what about the fuel signal? The range would not show a right number if the fuel level input is wrong.

If you press 10 and 1000 at the same time, you will get "Test" in the display, now push the "1" button untill it says "8" now press S/R button. And you should be seeing you current vehicle speed in the display, if not, then ill guess there is something wrong with the connection to the speed signal.

Still not working I guess... Test8 shows nothing...

Before I connected the wire, I was at low fuel (orange light was lit). After I connected, I suddenly had 20L... When I disconnected the wire, it was again normal... So I guess this isn't the right plug/wire...

Range still shows 67km, and sometimes jumps to 48km...

Anyone can tell me the exact plug/wire I got to get the speed pulse from?

Often times when we install in-dash navigation units, we have to tag a speed pulse wire to help the gps system navigate. I dont have access to my tech computer right now but tomorrow, I will try to look it up for you and let you know which wire it is.

Also on newer cars or more exotic cars, when there is no speed pulse listed, I tag one of the two ABS wires going to each brake caliper. One of these wires contains a speed pulse but not both. So try one wire and if it doesnt work, it will be the other. I've tried this on many cars and worked everytime.

Fuel indicator seems to work.. Still need to find the speed wire..
