Well, I may be putting my car up for sale.
As many know, I have put a lot of work and money into the car, but
I will be soon getting very busy with my grad program and lots of commuting and I no longer have the time and energy to put to further dialing the car in and am looking to get an un-modified 4 door all around commuter.
The car is as follows:
-1990 525i
-1998 OBD1 3.2 M3 motor with about 5k miles on it.
(motor was built by ERT with lightened crank, forged pistons,
-Schrick cams,etc)
-Vortech V1 supercharger at 5.5psi (the whistler)
-1998 M3 tranny, also with about 5k miles on it.
-New UUC Stage 2 flywheel and M5 clutch with 500 miles.
-UUC oil filter housing and front mounted oil cooler.
-ERT 3.15 LSD
-New Dinan springs
-New Koni adjustables on front, older Bilstein Sports rear
-M5 19mm/25mm sway bars
-New Kmac front camber plates (set at -1 camber)
-Supersprint exhaust from cat-back
-High-flow cat
-Brembo 332mm front rotors with 4-pot fixed calipers
-E39 type 32 wheels (17x9 and 17x8)
-Car will have new tires mounted (probably Khumo MX)
-Very nice stereo system with Alpine HU, Kicker and Phoenix
Gold amps, small sub box, etc).
-Full gauges
Issues with the car:
-A small oil leak which should be fixed by sale (looked at right now).
-The car was hit in rear corner about 1997. Repair and paint quality
good, but paint match not perfect.
-AC is not hooked up an is missing a couple of the lines. All major parts
are there and, I believe, functioning.
-I repaired some rust at the rear, which I believe was a result of the
accident. Cut out and repleced metal with stainless.
-The main issue with this for me is that there is some kind of space there that
lets exhaust leak in if you drive with the windows open. There is no large
gap, but a small one somewhere that needs to be sealed.
-illumination on auxilliary gauges recently blanked when I pulled the lower
panel to access steering nut. Should be simple, may be fixed soon.
That's about it. The car is Bronzit. The body has 120k on it and the mechanicals are almost all new. It runs perfect and feels just like a stock car in traffic. Idle is smooth, clutch is light, etc. The car manages 20mpg average with some spirited driving and mostly normal driving. Freeway is about 23-24mpg, and zipping around town will yield about 17mpg.
It is very fast. I have the dyno charts from ERT which show 320hp at the
wheels, or around 387 at the crank (using 17% drivetrain loss).
I have way more in it than I am asking.
Car will come with a current CA smog certificate.
$13,500 obo
Cars I may take as full or partial trade:
-1998+ VW Passat 1.8t sedan 5-speed
-1997-1998 BMW M3 sedan (un-modified only)
-Volvo S-70, S-60 sedan
Thanks, Colin
