I've installed this unit in my e34 about a week ago and I have to say its one of the best decks I've ever used. The illumination for BMW is nearly perfect and has a variety of colors it can switch to for matching other car's illumination. The ipod interface works great and is very fast. Everything else about this deck is great. The large volume know was a little awkward at first but now I kinda like it. It reminds me of a home theater reciever's large volume knob.

This deck also has Eclipse "Area Shot" Navigation built in. It comes with a memory card that you save your "To and from" information on, then you load this info into your deck and the navigation will display your map and automatically navigate you to your desination. Worked great! Although, I wish it has auto re-route. There is also a huge list of POI that can be displayed.

The audio functions of this deck are beyond compare to any other deck. Build in time correction that can be adjust via the deck or Eclipse's website. Multichannel EQ, 4 way speaker setup or 3 way setup (low, mid, high). Crossover, time correction, and EQ can all be adjust with Eclipses website and its really fun to play with. Save it and upload your audio information to the deck. Also has a microphone that you can purchase to automatically adjust the EQ to match your car's acoustics.

Some of the bad...
Price - This unit has a retail price of $699. Ipod adapter is $50 and Area Shot antenna and module are $200. I purchased this under special accomodations so I got a large discount.
Also the remote control isnt very well designed. The buttons only work if you press firmly on them. The tracking left and right and up and down buttons feel very cheap and you need to press hard to make them function.

The pictures do not do the screen justice, its very clear, very much like a real tv.

...did you install a new colored bulb or did your car come that way? That is a very nice idea to show the cooling function as blue. Let us know!

My car just has a small LED orange bulb shining through a tiny slot on the buttons. My dad's '91 M5 has the colored ones like shown above, where the whole button changes color.

Looks really sweet man, well done on the purchase and install. What's time correction?

Also I really like the coloured buttons for your AC/demister/recirculate air. It's a shame I can't use these buttons, since mine aren't push-and-stay (for lack of a better term) like the buttons in older (pre-1992?) E34s.

I can only purchase 1 deck from Eclipse at accomodation pricing. I do not buy Eclipse directly but I am a vendor for many other good name brands. Alpine, Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer, Jvc, and many others. Contact me via email if you are interested in buying from me. I can give bimmer discounts.
