I'm trying to locate the EML unit in my 91 535i? Where is it located and is it the same as the ECU? While I'm at it can someone tell me what causes the indicator that notifies you when your key is in the ignition to stop working?

what causes the indicator that notifies you when your key is in the ignition to stop working?

My first guess would be a bad switch in the ignition.
