Recently acquired a '94 540 in great shape, but there is a braking problem.
When cold, the brakes behave normally. After a period of driving at speed and braking, the front end has a shimmy on braking. My guess would be that a disc is warping when heated, but this could also possibly be related to glazing on the pads.
Any suggestions?
I don't want to go to the trouble of replacing just the pads if I need both disks and pads, since it's the same amount of work. By the same token, putting in new disks needlessly is wasteful.
