My 1995 e34 has the power package and whatnot. On the button that is used to lean the seat back, you can push it up and down. Is that supposed to do something? It makes a sound like something is trying to happen, but nothing does.
Your head rests are supposed to be electrically adjustable. The reason nothing is happening lies in the infamous cable stretch that occurs in the drive mechanism. Here's a remedy: http://bellsouthpwp.net/m/i/miales/seatcablesfix.htm
I fixed mine a few days after getting my baby :)

Slightly off-topic:
Does seat twist only apply to electric seats?

Electric headrests are silly...They are fun to surprise passengers with though.
