I've been having a mad squeak somewhere in the dash of my car for months now. It sounds like a glass on pastic rubbing sound, but really it could be anything, that's just what it reminds me of. Anyway, I tried pressing, touching, puling everything to pinpoint where it comes from - the obvious place was the windshield but pressing against this barely quieted it. The only thing that real quieted it down a lot was pressing lightly with one or two fingers against the radio, of all things.
So I took out the radio (instructions here: http://www.nmia.com/~dgnrg/page_36.htm), which has an odd rubbery protrusion at the back, pressing against some foam through a bracket. Couldn't find anything there to tighten or clamp down, so I just added a piece of foam, folded in 3, against the existing foam, to make a snugger fit for the radio. Put everything back together and....squeak totally gone! The whole car feels more solid now without that awful noise over bumps.
I hope I don't jinx myself with this...
