I hate deleting crap and most other forums use a standard 100. I can't imagine the extra 50 messages per person would create a significant bandwith problem.

Not really bandwidth, but storage space.
For our size forum it shouldn't be a problem, however, I don't know the specifics/cost of running this site!! :)
