any suggestions besides pintosin... $17/quart from the stealer...?

Nope. AFAIK, there is no cheaper alternative.

If you've got a fluid leak, it's a good idea to fix the leak so the $$$ fluid stops leaking out- the system should require very little (if any) additional fluid once it's at the proper level.

Use the pentosin, other fluids attack the seals. If you think the fluid is expensive check into the cost of replacing some of your hydraulics.
The $17 puddles in your driveway ought to inspire you to correct any leaks. Check the hose on the bottom of the resevoir first. That's about the only cheap repair.
