Hey whatsup guys? I just bought a glass sunroof or moonroof for my 1994 530i. I got it for $75 cracked but plan to get the glass replaced. It was taken off a euro 5 series and should bolt on my car. Do you guys think this was a good deal?

No because the seller had it listed on this forum for $50 before the auction. :p

Well I did'nt see it until the auction. $50 sounds even better. I am just glad to get one. Good thing I am getting the replacement glass for free through my body shop.

It's obviously not a genuine BMW part, yes?

I thought it was. The add said that it came from a Euro 535i that had the glass moonroof stock. It comes with the headliner which I do have to re do because it is ripped. It is a direct fit for E34's

Just busting your chops. Let us know how you make out with it. They are extremely rare. I wanted to buy it to do the same thing but just have too many other things goin on.

I think you were right the first time. Sunroof = glass, moonroof no glass. It just seems to make sense that way. You know, let the sun in during the daytime and all. I second the wanting of pics for this :D

Otherway...
sunroof = solid (though the term can be used for both types)
moonroof = always glass.

Correct.
You can't press a semi-boneless ham on a sunroof, hence the term, moonroof. ( o ) :D :D

The Alpinas do come with the glass moonroof. Atleast the Alpina B10 Biturbo that was on Ebay had it.

Nice. I'd like to see some pics. I'd like to pick one of those up for my E34.They come from Webasto (http://www.webasto.com), this company bought the one that has always supplied high end roofs to euro manufacturers like Merc and BMW, etc. If you call them (they are International), they will have a replacement panel for your car- whether it be a metal one or glass- with options. If you swap from moon to sunroof, the whole moving assembly is changed (but not the fixtures and electronics, I've seen it done) as the glass panel incorporates a sliding sun shade to prevent sunstroke... :) Nick

slight delay on the Glass moonroof. DHL has misplaced it during shipment. The part was last scanned leaving Portland, Oregon. I have complained and started a search through out the terminals. I will post up pics as soon as I can.
