What is the best radar detector that blends well into the e34 (hardwired) One that works through the car's own DOT-Matrix LCD warning system. That would be neat. I'd put it inside a BMW jiffy box so it looks original integrate it into the stock wiring ever so neatly so no-one would know. ;) just an idea...

It has been done with the Valentine V1, integrated into the dot matrix display of an e34.

no it doesnt
as far as im aware no one outside BMW and its partners has been able to 'crack' the protocol for transmitting to the dot matrix screen on e34 e32
Youre thinking of the E39 E38 later models where they use the ibus

You are 100% correct. That was the article I was referring to. I thought - from memory - it was fitted into the e34.
My Snooper system was stuck on the dash of the e34 with velcro and was powered directly from the cigarette lighter using the flying lead. Stealth it wasn't...:D
Beltronics STi. No better than that (for now)... unless you live in a radar detector friendly place. Comes with everything you need for discreet mounting.

V1 is the best... my car has a K40 stealth installed into the car with the led indicators mounted in the cluster:) On the GPS, I have heard good things about the TomTom units and ebay has them at good prices...

That's no longer true. The V1 is lagging significantly behind the STi, and is not invisible to the latest Spectre. The ONLY thing the V1 has that I wish the STi does is the directional indicators.

I have an Bel RX65 and love it. I can't image a V1 working any better and it's half the price. You can get a hardwire adapter for a couple bucks on ebay. There is a how to that I used around somewhere you should be able to find.

Anyway, it boils down to whether you need to be stealth, what your budget is, and how much advanced notice you need for your money.
