Hi guys,
trying to recover after spending the weekend at Eastern Creek Raceway.
Oh my god!
Talk about fantastic cars, drivers, history, crowds, officials.
I had to talk to all of the international drivers as part of my job in administration (yep, chose a goody to break into that job) and I'll say right now that they are the best group of drivers I've ever met.
2 of them stood out for me and they were John and Carolyn Dimmer from the States. Carolyn gave me a big kiss after one of her races (where did that come from) and John made a point of thanking me personally for the event.
All the UK drivers were, as expected, very polite. Felt sorry for one of them as he had waited until Sunday morning for his car to arrive at the track only to hit a spun car in its first race.
The cars, well if you get a copy of Vintage Racecar October 2006 issue you can read about them or go to www.tasman-series.com.
The main event was an amazing thing to see, with sooo many old open wheeler cars doing battle. It sent chills up your spine to watch and hear.
cheers,
Greg
