e34/e39 wheels fit on an e36, so why wouldn't it work the other way?
PS- it takes some work to get them to fit.
Coincidentally there are E36 wheels for sale locally that I have interest in.
So as not to be subject of the next thread of this ilk would someone please explain if and how E36 wheels may fit the E34?

So as not to be subject of the next thread of this ilk would someone please explain if and how E36 wheels may fit the E34?It usually requires something like 20mm-to-an-inch of hub-centric spacer and longer lug bolts. The only thing that "fits" is the bolt circle and the hub center. Why bother? It makes only slightly more sense than putting E34 wheels on an E36...which is really stupid!
Thanks. I'm not interested in doing anything like that.

when i tried to put e36 wheels on my e34 the inside of the tire would rub up against the shock. I had to get some eibach spacers.

e34 et = 20mm. e36 is up around 38. hence you need 15 to 20mm spacers to make it work.
that being said i've seen some style 5's on e36's with stretched tires and they're hawt
I won't be doing this. If anyone else is interested they are on Chicago Craig's list, northwest suburbs under auto parts.
Seller has 4 E36 rims w Conti Touring Contact tires claimed to be 80% for $390.
