What's the correct way to check Trans. Fluid level, when the car has been sitting a while or when it's warm and driven. Thank you.:)

Car should be level
Engine running at proper idle speed
Gear Shifter should be in "P" or "N"
Transmission Fluid Temp should be between 30 - 55 deg C

Car running, fluid at temp.
Dipstick:
If so with the car on a level surface shift through all gears and back to park and then check the dipstick.
No dipstick:
There is a fill hole. Same procedure as above but the fluid should be right up to the level of that hole.
