i'm assuming that's not already on my car? or at least if it is, i don't see it.

Interesting. When I installed it on my car, I didn't use those corner snaps or anything... I just snapped it into place, then secured it down by installing the license plate over it.
What's part 19? That's not a surround for the lock, is it??

# six is forty something. the actual filler piece is 63 or so.

you just need the filler plate. and double sided 3m moulding tape. The license plate light lens actually retaing the filler plate tightly once snapped on. and the license plate mounting screw will keep it in place. 3m tape is just an additional measure.

This is an M5 [obviously] and you would need to buy the black surround for the lock [Part #19 it looks like in the diagram] for it to be flush with the rest of the surround...

Wait guys, When I installed mine, that piece CAME OFF because the frame actually took it's place up top with an edge that went up and forward. I have that dirty light cover somep[alce in my closet... I don't think you need it.
Also, yes use double sided 3m outdoor adhesive foam take to adhere it to the car as an extra precaution, it works wonders and it hasn't let go since, and I live in OR, rain city.
Just my experience, and my car didn't come with it I got it from the dealer.
I think to install it COMPLETELY you must drill holes in your trunk lid and get a diff lock button for the little rubber grommet to fit over or else you have an empty(yet hardly noticable hole) like on my car.
I'll get a pic looking up from the licese plate at that when it stops F-ing raining outside.

ventogt- thanks for the photo. I did a quick addition of the part on my car in MSpaint, but I'm not sure it really does anything special for my car.

you just need to buy the filler plate. it snaps into place, and the license plate and screws will help it hold in place snuggly.
fkong777, i can't believe you're selling that beauty!

Its great.. The M-sport is getting better everyday. Not in a hurry to sell but it is available. I should have a EAT chip soon if MarkD can set it up. Reason is I have been eye-ing newer car particularly to ML55 and X5 4.4. like to have a AWD SUV for ski trips with the kids.
swenpro, get smoked Hella rears with the filler. IMO they're hot!

No point-dark cars? My dark green 95 would hardly even show it. I have thought about it. But, nope.

Thats the plan. I wanted a used one since I have to perfect it before it can be used as the tool for a mold. The surface textures and injection mold points have to be altered.
Anyone have a used one handy ?:)

looks nice, steve0... even though your car has a dark color, the filler gives a nice "shadowbox effect" to your license plate. :)

The number 22 peice is the right one but it won't fit unless you put on the M5 lock it's a different than other E34 cars, I have US M5 panel on all my 540i/6 cars including the lock (ordered new locks from BMW around $70 a peice)
With M5 lock and ring... http://www.autopower.se/galleriet/galleribilder/00041803_40774_S6.jpg

hey, thanks swenpro. nice to get some compliments from people with cars as nice as yours!
as far as part #22 key button grommet... thing, i would suggest forgetting about htat. 70 for the new key button isn't worth it, at least for me since i'm always pushing the button in with the key still in the lock. i have to since i removed my bad actuator. without the grommet, there's plenty room, and it looks fine.

It's up to you, if the look is OK I recommend to buy it when you see fit, I waited 6 month with my latest 540i before I bought the lock and now I will start over with my "new" third 540i/6, that's life when you are E34 crazy:D
The ring won't fit on the original lock, I tried:(
