The inspection light just appeared on my “new” ’97 528i. :(
Does anyone know if the procedure of grounding the #7 pin (3 seconds service, 9 seconds inspection) on the diagnostic connector that can be used for certain E34 models will reset the light on this E39 also?
Thanks,
Carl

Just got back from resetting the inspection indicator light.
This worked: turn the ignition key to position 2, take the diagnostic plug receptacle cap off, place a copper wire in the #7 pin and #19 pin holes, wait 10 seconds and your done. The toughest part was trying to read the pin numbers in broad daylight.
All the lights are green.
Thanks for your help,
Carl

Are these the two pins in question? I can't seem to get my 1992 525i to reset the Inspection and Light Bar. Have tried this trick several times in different combinations, no luck at all.
