Attention:- After doing head work on an M20

For anyone who is/will be doing head work on their M20 lump:- After you have re-fitted the head and bolted everything back in place, you may hear a loud metallic screeching noise on startup. Don't despair, it's not the camshaft journals chewing themselves up, it's just the water pump running dry. Once you get coolant (or in my case - tap water) to the pump it'll run silent. Took me 20 minutes to work that out earlier this evening, in darkness and heavy rain, while getting oil from the cam spraybar spraying everywhere. Tomorrow I'll have to set my valves as the settings 'seem' to have changed since I set them when the head was off.
