Ahh - guess not - a U.S. Curio and Relic Federal Firearms License holder - if you like old guns and the local law will vouch for your upstanding nature it's an easy and cheap license to get that allows you to get firearms by mail or from the Big Brown Santa. It's for collectors, not people who want to buy and sell.

if you are buying any of the old-tymey guns on a regular basis, the C&R is the ONLY way to go. you pay 30$ for 3 years IIRC, and you can get all of the 50 year old+ guns (not nfa of course) sent to your home directly without having to use a ffl to broker your purchase.

Nice one!
I currently have an ist*DS and am considering a K10D myself.
Have you checked out DP Review and the Pentax SLR forum?
There's a few ruffled feathers after Phil Askeys review re. soft JPG's.
Doesn't concern me as I mainly shoot RAW.

Is this your first DSLR?

Just use bright mode if you want sharper pictures. Both the k100d and the k10d have "bright mode" and "natural mode". Natural mode is supposed to be more filmlike. The k100d is shipped with its default mode at "bright" and the k10d is shipped with its default mode at "natural". The soft JPEGs are not a real problem because of this.

Yes its my first DSLR. I hung around dpreview for awhile, but its way to hectic and the people dont really talk about anything worthwhile, and if they do it is on the second or third page in minutes. The Pentax SLR forum is the most active forum on DPreview. When i found www.pentaxforums.com, i stopped going to the forums at DPreview.

I can remember various posts you have made about wanting to develop your photography skills, so congratulations on the new camera.

Nice rig, I just ordered a Canon XH A1 today for work.

All you need now is a waterbody for it. :)

Yes this is my first DSLR camera. Been using my K1000 for about 25yrs.
I got a coolpix for my wife, but with the new Baby needed something better for enlargements. The coolpix just didn't do it. My dad sold his Blads and all his equipment therefore we can't take anymore portraits. I will check out the forum.

What is this slide film you speak of?...LOL

KODACHROME 25, do they still make that stuff? It's the best!

I shot slide film and processed (E6) it for years, up to 8x10 sheet film in a Deardorf, 4X5 Linhof, various Blads, Nikons, etc. Been hesitant to get into the DSLR but will probably stick with Nikon when I do since I still have a few lenses for the old Nikon FM (fully manual); my Blads haven't been used for awhile.

I just bought a Fujifilm F30 for carrying around, >6MP, it's fast, has little lag time, great in low light, fits in my pocket. After trudging camera equipment around the world for years, I'm all for packing light.

hmmm i have an k1000 sitting in my wardrobe.I used to drag it around every where, would take very few photos, and often disapointed with the result. And of course a film woud sit in there for a couple of years!.Interesting!
