You need quicktime to view those.
Not really sure if its the water pump or not. Did the screwdrivers test on it and the alternator, not conclusive.
Put my hand on the Chain tensioner - didn't seem to be coming from there.
No coolant leaks, car runs alright.
Last waterpump was done maybe 20,000 miles ago.
Ideas ?

Sounds like a noisy bearing in the coolant pump to me. I've tried every german & spanish pump available for the m30. The best pump seems to be the chinese water pump on there now from autozone. The bearing play out of the box is much better & after 1 year, the chinese pump is still quiet. Graf, hepu, & febi were noisy & short-lived on my m30.
Your quicktime attachments worked fine here. Maybe remove the alternator/coolant pump belt to spin the coolant pump by hand. That should tell ya if the coolant pump is shot.

Its not the water pump. I took the belt off and ran the motor.

does the fan clutch/blade deflect any significant amount any while it is rotating? mine has been making diesel like noises for 3+ years now (since new) but since it is working fine, i've seen no reason to change it.
ps..if it wasn't a daily driver (like some or most here seem to be) i might be tempted to try and rebuild your water pump yourself and see if you can do a better job than the water pump companies can do :D
