The only thing you can do is keep an eye out on Ebay and also find BMW classifieds to browse. If you're patient, you might find a set for $1,000 or less. I bought my set for $1,200 about 5 years ago, but they included tires, which I Ebay'd.

I second that.. I searched ebay and bid on many with a limit on $800. Got lucky and got a set with new toyo's proxies4 with 3k miles on the tries. A little curb rash on the right side, but nothing too bad.... Just be patient ..

I paid $1200 for a set with moderate corrosion and curb rash and four mostly-worn-out tires, so $1500 for a good set of rims seems reasonable. At that price, though, they should be in very good condition.
Yes, they're expensive, they're worth it, and everyone knows it. That's why the price stays high.
I get compliments all the time on them, and mechanics working on my car always mention how light they are. For me, it was a no brainer, even if they cost a bit more than other good rims. They make the car.
Gonna make a winter project outta refurbishing mine.

There are tons of E34's and E39's with ugly 15" wheels! Like mine! :D

The E30 M3 crowd love em' too. Pushes the prices up.

I picked mine up for $600 local. I happened to see the posting on Craigslist about 3 minutes after it was put up, and 5 people had emailed him already. Apparently I sounded the most eager, so he picked me out of a list of like 50 interested people. Granted they needed, and still need, some love but they came with some decent tires.

They're talking about the wheels you see in about every pic in this thread.
They are 17s, but I believe they made them for the 7-series as an 18" as well, but those are mega rare.
