tweaky speedo /cruise control

Something is causing my speedo to jump minutely at highway speed, and this same problem is causing the cruise control to surge and let off as the needle fluctuates. Is this something wrong with the speed sensor or the gauge cluster?

Well only $30 for a new one not too bad, do you have to undo anything near the diff? It is kinda cramped back there last i was under the car.

2 bolts on mine and a few wires - when you remove it, ensure you car is level or tilted forwards so the oil doesnt run out
it may just require cleaning - you will probably find there are metal scraps attached to it - this is because its magnetic and over time bits shave off the cogs - clean it and put it back again - also check your wires havent corroded
