Hi everybody,i am new here,and i have a question for you: can i use the filter housing from the M30B35 engine/(e32) and mount it to the M30B28 block engine/(e28)? Thank you.

passages are in different locations on the hanging filter versus the upright filter

but i heard it is possible to install,but you must do something to the engine block....?

Well, you can drill the hole in the block, but the entire flange is different. I didn't know about the TIS document that Bill posted, but every early/mid M30 that I've seen has a completely different flange than the late blocks, and a gasket change isn't enough to fix the problem, you'd need some kind of adapter.
It's not really worth it, just to access the oil filter from above when the pan has to be drained from below, anyway.

i already instal the engine on my e 32,so i need to find a solution; i was thinking also to an adapter,but that is the last choice,thank you.
