is it safe to jack on the rear crossmember iof the front end is supported by ramps? also is it safe to jack on the front crossmember?

There has been a fair amount of discussion on this subject, with some disagreement regarding the use of crossmembers and, god forbid, the differential.

FWIW, I've been using a well padded floor jack on both crossmembers and the differential since I've owned the car, with no ill-effects.

i only jack on the crossmembers, and use 4 pieces of spongy cardboard between the jack and the crossmember to protect it and get a better grip.
