how do I check my automatic trans. atf level ?

Many members of this board are more than willing to help others solve E34 problems. In fact some of the members pride themselves on their knowledge of BMW mechanicals (Bill R.). However, we who so willingly wish to help must know what year, model (525, 535, 540), and what trans is being discussed. My particular 525 has no trans dipstick, and so it is more difficult to check fluid level. Give us the particulars and many of us will be glad to give some friendly advice.
